Sri Lanka thrashed West Indies by 81 runs in match No.15 of the ongoing ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, January 21. (More Cricket News)

Opting to bat first, openers Sanjana Kavindi (38) and Sumudu Nisansala (19) got them off to a perfect start.

The good start was then carried forward by the top and middle-order as skipper Manudi Nanayakkara scored 37, while Dahami Sanethma made 31. 

However, a few hiccups saw them end with 166/5 in their 20 overs. Defending a solid total on the board, Chamudi Prabodu breathed fire, picking up three for 16 in her four overs. 

Aseni Thalagune and Limansa Thilakaratne also came to the party, taking a brace each. For West Indies, only three batters were able to cross double figures, with Samara Ramnath the innings’ top scorer with 24.
